Why Modular

For many years, integrated training was seen as the only route to an airline flight deck. Today, airlines increasingly recognise that pilots from modular backgrounds often bring a broader range of experiences, stronger decision-making skills and greater maturity to the role.

Modular training allows you to progress through each stage at your own pace, whilst maintaining greater control over both timescales and finances through a pay-as-you-go approach.

Rather than being confined to a single training environment, modular pilots often gain experience operating from different aerodromes, aircraft types and operational environments - helping to develop adaptability and real-world flying skills.

Through the Flight Deck Pathway, we combine these traditional strengths of modular training with the structure, support and industry partnerships often associated with integrated programmes - creating a route that is more flexible, more cost-effective and, in our view, better prepares pilots for a successful airline career. For a full breakdown of how the two routes compare, see our modular vs integrated guide.

Endorsed Partner

Endorsed by Wizz Air

The Flight Deck Pathway has been developed in collaboration with industry-leading partners and is endorsed by Wizz Air, providing a level of airline engagement rarely available within traditional modular training. The airline's involvement demonstrates the quality, structure and professionalism embedded throughout the programme.

High-performing candidates may be identified at an earlier stage of training and recommended forward to Wizz Air, creating opportunities that would not typically be available through a standard modular route. Subject to airline recruitment requirements, selected candidates may also benefit from fast-tracked assessment opportunities.

For students focused on a career with Wizz Air UK, EFT has partnered with IAGO - the UK's only approved provider of the integrated Wizz Air A320/A321 APS MCC Type Rating pathway - a trusted Wizz Air Group training partner since 2010.

Wizz Air Airbus A320

Whilst Wizz Air has endorsed the Flight Deck Pathway and provides unique opportunities for selected candidates, the pathway is not exclusive to Wizz Air and is designed to prepare pilots for opportunities across the wider airline industry. All airline opportunities remain subject to individual performance, airline requirements and recruitment processes.

The Pathway

Four structured stages take you from a private licence to the airline flight deck, each delivered by an industry-leading training partner.
01
ATPL Theory

ATPL(A) Theory

with Bristol Groundschool

The academic foundation of every airline pilot's training. Delivered in partnership with Bristol Groundschool, one of the UK's leading ATPL providers, you'll complete 13 exams covering flight planning, meteorology, aircraft systems, performance, navigation and air law. Flexible self-study is combined with structured support, an extensive video library, a comprehensive question bank and dedicated revision weeks.

02
Advanced Flight Training

MEP · CPL · MEIR · UPRT

with Euro Flight Training

Delivered full-time at EFT in our modern Diamond fleet. The Multi Engine Piston Rating, Commercial Pilot Licence, Multi Engine Instrument Rating and Upset Prevention & Recovery Training develop the precision, professionalism and decision-making required of professional flight crew - meeting airline entry requirements whilst building real-world handling, situational awareness and confidence.

03
APS / MCC

APS MCC Type Rating Prep

with IAGO or Simtech Aviation

The Airline Pilot Standards Multi-Crew Cooperation course is the final stage before airline assessment, bridging the gap between flight training and airline operations. Conducted in a multi-crew Airbus A320 / Boeing 737 environment, it develops the technical and non-technical skills of modern flight crew - communication, leadership, decision-making, workload management and airline SOPs.

04
Airline Assessment

Airline-Ready Flight Crew

with Wizz Air & others

On completion you'll be airline assessment ready. The pathway is endorsed by Wizz Air, providing a level of airline engagement rarely available within traditional modular training, with opportunities across the wider airline industry including Aer Lingus Regional, Emerald Airlines UK and many more.
